Ok its coming up to that time of year, there are lots of energy absorbers out there…..and sleepless nights (for tips how to deal with these see insomnia)

Cold zaps energy, Christmas is a wonderful time of year but is also stressful for some, work gets hectic leading up to the break, you are out every night at various dos, running about like a loon trying to get shopping done, battling the flow of human traffic to get that perfect present, carting the Christmas tree down from the woods where you single handedly pulled it up by the roots, cleaning the chimney so Santa can get down, turkey hunting………..

Its a long month- your going to need some supplies……….

Top 10 energy foods!!

  • Low fat Yogurt is full of protein and carbs which are exactly the combination you need for a burst of mid-morning energy. Even better with a drop of honey on top!
  • Peanut butter- packed with peanutty goodness- and fat! BUT good fat- unsaturated peanutty fat!!
  • Oatmeal is a great source of energy because oats are the best source of energy. Porrige is great anytime of day as will warm you up too! Or you can bake some low fat savory flapjacks (recipe here).
  • Bananas are packed full of potassium. Potassium helps your muscles contract. Therefore, bananas are great energy boosters.
  • Orange Juice has vitamin C so is great this time of year, but no more than 200ml as it can be high in sugar.
  • Salmon is very high in protein. And omega 3 besides, and so tasty……..
  • Beans have everything you need for energy; protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals.
  • Dried Fruit is the perfect high energy and low fat snack. Again watch the quantity mind you!
  • Nuts are GREAT! Almonds are actually the most nutrient dense food. Perfect for energy.
  • Whole grains such as breads and rice, browner the better, steer clear of the white stuff!!
  • So keep your energy levels high with a bit of help from the above. That way come Christmas Day you might still have the ability to smile…….if you want!

Yes I know that it is horribly early………

But lets face it, you need to be organising presents!!

I have just been looking for craft fayres and organising my Tabsmagic Christmas Gift packages, The massage is hugely discounted for those buying in the form of a gift package, and you have the option of a personal training session, nutrition analysis or postural analysis to go with it. I am doing pamper packages too for those less included to want a sports massage!!

So start thinking now and you can save yourself a lot of cash and a lot of stress come Christmas eve when you are running around trying to get a present before the shops close!!
