Massage

What is the difference between TabsMagic Sports Massage and TabsMagic Relaxation Massage?

Relaxation massage is a calming and relaxing experience which works to relieve stress and stimulate feel good hormones throughout your body. It is both cleansing and detoxifying and will leave you feeling refreshed,  revitalised and wonderful!

Sports massage is very deep tissue and remedial. It works to find ‘knots’, tension, scar tissue and other forms of unhealthy tissue that can ‘clog up’, ‘tighten’ and ‘stress’ your muscles. It works to relieve muscular pain, inflexibility, stiffness and bad posture. It is often painful but clients usually refer to the pain as a ‘good pain’ or ‘relieving.’

Why can Sports Massage be painful?

Tension knots and scar tissue need to be broken down in order to release the muscle, this requires pressure from the massage therapist. A good therapist will be able to apply the correct amount of pressure in the right strokes and intervals in order to provide the client with a much healthier muscle after the treatment.

How will I feel afterwards?

Many people feel sore after a massage, and tired, like you have just spent an hour working out. The pressure required in a sports massage is the reason for the initial soreness- but this will wear off in time- then you should feel much freer, more flexible with reduced stiffness and this in turn gives you much more energy. You should also be in much less muscular pain therefore able to do a lot more both physically and mentally.

What type of problems can sports massage help with?

As a massage therapist I deal with all things muscular. Many common aches and pains can be easily eliminated with Sports Massage treatment. Some of the more common terms for problems I frequently treat are; frozen shoulder, Achilles tendinitis, any back, neck or shoulder pain, headaches and migraine, numbness and cramp, repetitive strain injuries, neck pain and inflexibility, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, knee pain, ankle pain, foot pain. hip pain and sciatica. Tight hamstrings and calfmuscles and general mobility problems. Poor posture is also addressed. Sports and any muscular strains or injuries can be made to heal much faster and more efficiently with sports massage.

I am a competitive athlete, how will massage help my training and performance?

Sports massage will ensure that your muscles stay as healthy and flexible as possible, this will mean that you are able to perform longer without tiring, gain strength, speed and agility, recover faster and get more out of what you put into your body.  Any injuries you incur will heal faster if your muscle tissues are kept flexible, tension free and healthy as the bodies debris elimination and tissue rebuilding mechanisms are more efficient.

As a sports athlete, your body is your vehicle to success, sports massage will make you operate to the best of your ability.

How can you help me during pregnancy?

The ways in which my services can help both physically and mentally during pregnancy can be viewed here.

Is massage safe during pregnancy?

Massage is very good at increasing your muscle flexibility which allows for more stretch during labour, this decreases the chance of stretch marks and increases the chance of a fast recovery after the birth. Acupressure massage is incredible to ease the pain of labor and should be introduced at the ealiest stage of pregnancy possible.

How many treatments will I need?

Many people ask me this and I am afraid it is not a question that I can answer straight away. It all depends on how deep in the tissue the knots are, how long the injury has been progressing, the individuals reaction to the treatment and the healing process. The same injury that can be treated in a single session in one person may take two or three in another, it is all person and body specific and I work to treat the individual. However after I have gauged the severity of the problem I can be more specific on your treatment plan….

Personal Training

What exactly is a Personal Trainer?

A personal trainer can be classed as a fitness professional. And in the same way that if you wanted to sort out any other health issues such as teeth, illness, ailments etc. you would consult a professional to get the best way forward, many people will seek the help of a Personal Trainer to get their fitness levels to the right standard.

Many people spend a lot of wasted time in a gym and see not change in their body-shape as a result. As a personal trainer I work on an individual level in order to work out the exercises that will best suit YOU and YOUR body. Magazines and DVDs  are full of exercises geared at Joe Public, not YOU. What works for your best friend my not suit your individual body, this is where personal training is fast, effective and will get you  to your goal in a structured and safe manner.

Will I have to do certain exercises I hate?

Life is too short to fill it with things you do not like doing. My initial consultation with you will help me establish what I think you need to do, and from there it is my job to work out a way of doing it that is enjoyable.

If you hate running I will not make you run, if you hate sit ups I will find another exercise to work the same muscles that you like. If any exercise is causing you pain I will find a substitute.

I think I am too unfit for a Personal Trainer- the thought terrifies me!

Many people express this fear to me ‘I’m too unfit, I am too overweight, I’m too embarressed’,……….

Everyone needs to start somewhere, I can guarantee that you will not be the first or last unfit person that I have helped motivate to fitness. The first step is recognising that you WANT to change………..the rest you can leave to me……
